Pacific Raceways Season Opens

Where: Pacific Raceways, 3101 144th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98042 

When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  

With a new motorcross track, improvements to the road course, including track improvements and spectator viewing areas, new events, and a new drag strip format consisting of 3-day race events, this year promises to be exciting for racers and spectators. General Manager Doug Greenfield has been focusing on making the facility more racer and family friendly. Improvements to the facility include a new AAA Official Auto Club playground, race surface renovations, track appearance enhancements, and new Bret Chevrolet Race Rescue vehicles equipped with high-tech safety equipment. "Crazy Quilts"

Where: White River Valley Museum, 918 H St. SE, Auburn, WA 98002

When: The Museum is open Noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday - Sunday

 “Crazy Quilts” features a collection of nearly 50 quilts, garments and other items made with the crazy quilting method, most dating from 1880 to 1920. The exhibit is organized by guest curator, quilter and storyteller Anita Sheneberger who spent more than four months traveling the back roads of Western Washington to acquire this rare collection of quilts. Weaver’s Spirit Power, Antique to Contemporary Coast Salish Weaving

Despite the fact that most people envision totem poles and masks, the highest form of traditional Native art from the Puget Sound region was weaving, both basketry and wool. Guest curator and master weaver, Susan Pavel will bring us a collection of weaving's from Northwest artists, many of them Native Americans. Wearing ceremonial robes, tunics, bags, and blankets, in sheep wool, mountain goat wool, in natural tones or died with native plants—the indigenous weaving's of our region are beautiful.
